Got out on Plainfield Pond with my oldest child today. Much better than last weekend.
Overcast, 30 degrees, no wind. About 6 inches of ice.
Lots and lots of flags - - all dink perch and pickerel.
Christened our new "stove" (a metal pot to build a fire in) with pork chops and cabbage pierogi, followed (for me) by a cigar.
All in all, an encouraging start to a new icefishing season.

Nice. I've been out on ice a few times already here in NY for some panfish. Headed to the Adirondacks next week. Geeting outdoors makes winter go by faster - already making plans for spring though.

I hit Cheshire Lake with my 14 year old today.
Nice day except kinda windy - - with lots of "snowdevils."
Lots of flags, and lots of modest size (13" to 17") pickerel.
