Hello all you fly tiers out there!

At the Dollar tree store, they have/sell Christmas tree tinsel that is the exact same stuff as Flashabou. Its Holographic Silver or gold as well as various other colors such as red, blue, etc. It comes in 19" inch strands of 500 for a $1.00 a package!!! I matched it up to the Flashabou that I purchase at the local fly shop for $5.00 bucks, and it exactly the same thing, just a larger amount for a fraction of the cost.

Even though it looks like Flashabou, you have to be careful. The real material and materials like it are all water proof and won't fall apart or degrade when wet for long periods.

For that price I would go ahead and check it out and try dressing some flies with it to see how it handles dry and when wet.
