Well Alaska 1st banned the use of Felt soled waders & boots. Vermont just signed & passed the same law banning the same, and I wonder which state will be next? With Massachusetts being so liberal, I'm surprised that they weren't leading the way.
I have mixed feelings on the whole subject. I know and realise the reasoning behind the bans that are taking place. But I don't always agree with the un-educated politicians that make these decisions.
What will be next?

As some one who is blessed with a fair amount of clumsiness, and who wades in rock piles, I will miss my felts a lot. The Walloomsac has got to be the slimiest river anywhere. But, I understand the reasons and think this should have been done years ago. Before the Battenkill got infected. I think you are right about the politicians being clueless on this one. This is a movement that came, not from the world of politics, but from the world of fishermen, wild life biologists, Fish and Game Departments, and even a few granola people. It is a decision based on our best understanding of the science involved. There may be other pathways to infection but this one is a clear and unnecessary danger. I have an excellent pair of very rugged boots that have another half dozen seasons or more in them. It will piss me off when I have to hang them up but that little inconvenience is nothing. Didymo, VHS, and whatever is next, is a much bigger bummer than the loss of a nice pair of boots. Any one want to buy a real nice pair of boots? AgMD
