First fish of the season!. A beautiful afternoon. Water temp 56*F and the water was incredibly clear. The air was warm enough for a T-shirt but I was glad I had long johns under fleece pants. There was a nice, if small, Hendrickson hatch. I only saw one trout rising. Wild slashing rises, in a run of fast rough water. It took over an hour and we missed each other three times but the fourth was the charm. A nice fat 14 inch rainbow. There were no other rises and I couldn't pound up anything with either dries or wets/nymphs. A beautiful afternoon for the first fish of the season. If the predicted rain brings some warmer water, the rivers will warm up a bit. Just a few degrees warmer and the fish will looking for chow. Then, we will have us some fun. AgMD

Sat. 5/1, the water temp in the late AM was 56* F. Sun. at sunset it was 64*. Big jump-- Caught a 5 inch brookie Sat. and shot my first fish picture with my new waterproof camera. WOO HOO!! I must have gotten overly excited 'cause just a few minutes later I did a face plant in waist deep water. The good news -- the camera really is waterproof. It looks like the weather will stay fairly warm and if it does the trout metabolism will start to jump and that is when they will be looking for chow. YES!! AgMD
