Sat. the season began in Vt, and I celebrated by fisning the Hoosic in Pownal. The water was 44* F and moving at a pretty good clip. I tried some streamers and weighted nymphs but was unable to stir anything. but --- THE SEASON HAS BEGUN !!!!! AgMD

I opted for smaller water and fished the Green upstream of Williamstown yesterday and did as well as you but it was good to get out again and cast the wand. On my way over, I did notice a number of cars along the road in VT which reminded me that I need to pick up my VT license. I want to fish the VT section of the Battenkill some more this season and maybe the White.
Good Luck all Bart

AgMD,
at least you already got out!! I'm still trying to finish my Honey do list.
I've only F.F. the Hoosic River once on the Mass/ VT border a year or so ago. I liked the fishing area, though I didn't catch anything.
They did stock the surrounding rivers over in the Berkshires, and the rivers have come down to comfortable wading levels, and actually some are lower than expected.
But I thought about getting out myself possibly later today, Honey Do list or not!!
Did you see any bugs flying around? Just curious of the happenings.
Anyway, what happened to this website, any word?
AgMD, Good luck & tight-lines..............Phil

Bart,
That stretch of the Green River looks like great water. I often drive by it in my business travels.
Tight-lines..............Phil

Any word on the upper conn? headed east in two weeks thinking about heading to pittsburg, nh then working my way south. Oh Man! Now your talking my language. I haven't been up there since I moved to the Berkshires. Indian & Perry Streams were some of the best Fly fishing. Of course the Headwaters of the conn. river was amazing as well. But I don't have any word of the happenings. My cousin make a annual pilgrimage up for a weekend fishing, but that doesn't happen until I think May. But its all good, as long as you enjoy it...............Phil

I fished the South Branch of the Hoosic in Adams/Cheshire on Saturday. The weather was nice and the water looked good, but all I managed to land were a couple of 8 inch browns.
Sunday, pretty much the same story. I tried the North Branch in Clarksburg/North Adams. The only fish I saw were about 20 stockies in a swimming pool sized pool just above the Cascade Plant. About 5 guys were casting to them, but they weren't hitting.

Tall Timber Lodage keeps are pretty good weekly blog about the fishing conditions. You can keep and eye on it or give them a call before you go. talltimberlodge.wordpress.com/I'm headed south as the Hendricksons are popping in the Catskills and the water levels are coming down nicely. Can't get away to mid-next week but should be good.

Bart, That stretch of the Green River looks like great water. I often drive by it in my business travels. Tight-lines..............Phil I've taken some fish in it, mostly stockies in the early season but it's nice to fish smaller water when the big rivers are too tough for a fly rod. I may try it again over there tomorrow night for a few hours if I can get away from all the yard work.
