I would like to clear the air about the "Jailbird" fly. Marla Blair did NOT invent the Jailbird. Her ex-husband Roger Blair did. The proof is that I not only know the origin of the "Jailbird" but was contracted by Orvis in 1999 for my fly. I am a known fly fisherman and have won the "Deerfield One Fly Event" approx. six years in a row. Not to toot my own horn but to salvage my reputation from Marla's petty gossip. Marla does not even know how to tie the Jailbird correctly! Additionally, Marla (obviously having no other claim to fame) retained my last name even though we have no children together and she has since remarried. Ask her why this is?? I'd love to know! I have character witnesses that will testify that this post is true (available upon request). The reason I feel I must write this message is because I am finally sick of being asked by people if I was married to her and what I thought about "her fly". I would love to have a fly tying contest with her! I look forward to any/all comments and questions with respect to the matter. Roger Blair

The reason I stated that the fly was a Marla Blair pattern is I heard those exact words from her mouth on a audio podcast as well as having read it at some point quite a while back on her site.
And here is my 2 cents on another part of your post.
We don't brag on this site. We don't care how many One Flies you have won, which doesn't carry much weight anyway because we don't know who you fished against. We share info. We compliment others catches when they post the results of an outing and there is very little if any inflammatory language/posts here.
If you got baggage, leave it at the door. Who cares about reputations; you aren't A.K. Best. or Galloup or Schmidt or Stevens. There are alot of beginners here (as well as some very accomplished tyers and fishers) and I don't want any of them exposed to the stereotypical elitist attitude.
Read through any number of posts. We help each other and we give thanks for the help.

I guess the point was made. Thread started by Blair and ended by me...
The one thing that I really love about this board is the lack of flaming, hi-jacking threads and the ever present spirit of cooperation. I wish the Midwest fly fishing boards would follow suit. Some are O.K. and I post to them but mostly I "lurk" and pick up tid-bits of info. I don't want to get into B.S. discussions with the snaggers and the guys who think they know everything and are ungrateful for any help.
Well, enough said on this.
