Well boys and girls, here we are at pretty much mid-way through the nasty Winter. And, while this one hasn’t been all that bad, there are still a few inches of snow on the ground in the Northern Berkshires, and the dreary grey we all know and love so well has settled in for a spell.
I’m still not in the tying spirit, but I did take a large step forward yesterday when I pulled the tubes out of the closet, unsheathed all my fly rods, and gave them a good, ol’ fashioned fondling. I enjoyed the play of light on their reflective surfaces, and was well pleased with the patina of sweat, bug dope, and grime that has become deeply set into the cork grips over the years. I polished the bamboo, admired the rich flaming, inhaled the faint, lingering scent of varnish, and imagined the bringing to hand of the first fish of 2006.
Seems like an eternity until May….

I still need to get out the Boston Polish and touch up the cane. Love that smell.

No need for the winter fishing blues.... Some of the best fishing can be had this time of year just 4 hours away on the Great Lake Tribs. Steelhead are in the river just waiting to be caught....

Three times this year. Each time produced fish. Hoping to get back up in February.

Your subject title made me think of Michael Jackson and PeeWee Herman.
