In the last couple of years the rs2 fly has been one of my big trout and summer patterns. The inventor of this fly Rim Chung happens to be one of my best friends buddy and he fishes the Grey reef and frying pan rivers. But its the whole tech, that manafests it self in the way that it is fished. A sage 1 weight rod and a no taper running line .29.I thing that its the same a 1 weight line, just no taper. But when you think of it,it all make sense.Look at the chuck and duck deal.direct contact with the fly at all times .No taper wandering around in the water. But he uses tungstun puddy above the fly.google the rs2 and look for the Rim Chung web site to see how he ties it.No company sells it how it is sopposed to be tied.I use the rs2 in sizes 18 and 20 and have found light olive and tan to be the best.

In case anyone is shopping; a no taper line is called a shooting line or at the old timers would call it a "level" line. If you don't want to buy one, simply flip you WF line and spool the head on first, you'll wind up with around 60-70' of shooting line.

Here is how the RS2 fly was developed and got its name:
In order to describe how the RS2 got its name, I should first tell you what led to its invention. When Rim Chung took up fly fishing thirty years ago, he, much like many of us, was bewildered by the choice of flies in fly shops and mail order catalogs. He noticed that there were too many flies with different names that closely resembled each other.
Soon Rim began to experiment with his own fly designs. He named his first successful fly Rim's Semblance, followed shortly thereafter by Rim's Semblance #2. He deliberately picked the word "Semblance" to indicate that this fly was not the imitation of any particular insect, which would have limited its function. Instead, the RS2 suggested a variety of insects. The RS2 proved to be an eclectic fly that has replaced all other flies (dries, emergers, nymphs, etc.) in Rim's fly box. The RS2 comes in many sizes and colors, but the shape remains unchanged as is the name.
