Just an FYI report for those with the shack nasties:
My friend and I fished the Farmington today in New Hartford. He did amazingly well, given the conditions, and I sucked out. He hooked up about 12 times - don't know how many he landed. All browns in the 14 - 19 inch range.
I only got one, on a Prince varient, but it was roughly 18 inches. Water temp was 34deg at 1PM, Riverton flow was 210+ cfs. Hard to know exactly, because the gauge for the Still river is iced up. I would estimate it kicking in another 100 cfs, so overall I would say the flow between 300-400cfs. Winds made nymphing difficult - especially using Euro-techniques.
No real hatch activity to report - didn't see any rises and noticed no winter caddis or early brown stones along the snow covered banks as you might expect this time of year.
