;D :-*Over the years of tyieing flies I have always tried to avoid useing the dubbing loop. But in the last year I have found it to be one of greatest uses for tieing the best buggy lookig flies I have ever tied.I really dont need it for regular rabbit or opossom dubbing. But for alot of the new seal and ice dubbings it really is a better way of laying on the working thread, give it a try. Paul:
I've been using the loop for quite a while now. I find, as you do that you don't need it with the "buggier" dubbings but I very useful when you want to pick out the fibers to fluff up the body/abdomen and won't pull out too many fibers because they are trapped between the thread. I use a turbo spinner to tighten it up.
I also have a wire dubbing loop tool that I pre-make dubbing brushes when I know I'm going to tie a bunch of the same type of fly.
