I just moved to this area (Northampton) in July and have had some great fishing on the Westfield in the Gorge section. I've seen and fished some great pools/runs and am now wondering if there are any "names" attached to these places. I like places with "names'. They give local lore and legend and just add to the pleasure of fishing them. Any "names" to these stretches??

Millerbrown,
I glad you have had a good time out on the Westfield. It's a nice river. It fished well this year, without the dangerously low and warm water of last summer. I hope you're enjoying your new location too (Leeds, right?)
I am not aware of any names of the pools or runs in the C&R. Some of them just beg to be named, don't they? I say let's start naming them!
You been out there recently?

Jeff,
I'm surprised that there are no "named" pools and runs on that section of the Westfield. Most good trout rivers pick up names for the best spots. Sounds like a project for some angling group.
Yup, I'm in Leeds. Just 15 minutes from the Gorge and the Knightville dam. My last trip to the Gorge was during the first week of Nov. for an hour before dark. I managed to take two. There's still a lot of fish in that river and I'll be hitting it a lot next spring. I assume that it freezes over during the winter.

I've fished there as late as mid December. Saw some fish (but didn't catch). It does freeze over. Late April through May can be killer.
